Pingree seeks to hire an accomplished and enthusiastic Staff Accountant and Benefits Administrator to begin in mid to late Fall 2025. The Staff Accountant and Benefits administrator supports the operations of the Business Office. This role is a full-time 12-month, in-person (not remote), FLSA exempt position. This position reports to the Controller and the Director of Human Resources and General Counsel.
General responsibilities include:
Staff Accountant Duties
Cash management accounting;
Tuition and student related fees billing and accounting;
Rink and auxiliary management billing and accounting;
Enrollment and financial aid award processing;
Development database receipt processing and reconciliation;
Accounts payable and payment processing;
Preparing monthly journal entries;
Providing audit and budget support;
Additional duties to support the Business Office as required, as assigned by the Controller or the Chief Financial Officer
Human Resources/Benefits Support Duties
Background checks and employment verifications
Payroll
Lead payroll processing through third party payroll platform
Benefits management and enrollment
Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources and General Counsel
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred;
Minimum of three to five years’ experience in an accounting preferred;
Prior experience with HR and benefits support/administration preferred;
Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge software (preferred);
Strong skills with Excel spreadsheets and Google sheets and documents;
Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and consultative skills with all constituents in the school environment;
Understanding of and appreciation for the mission of independent schools;
Applies discretion in managing confidential information;
Outstanding organization and prioritization skills with a solid track record of meeting deadlines while managing multiple tasks;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Commitment to working collegially in a diverse community;
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and anti-racism work;
Meticulous attention to detail, organizational, project, and time management skills;
Track record of applying sound judgment; strong decision making and problem-solving skills;
A high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and sense of humor.
Pingree considers several factors in compensation decisions, including job knowledge, skills, experience, academic credentials, licensures and certifications, and organizational needs. While salary decisions are dependent on the specifics of each scenario, individuals are not typically hired at the top end of the salary range, which is $60,000 to $80,000 for this role.
